临沂市已形成了以轻纺、食品、建材、机械、化工为主的门类比较齐全的工业体系。乡及乡以上工业企业达到2400多家，产品3000余种，其中工程机械、植保机械、水泥、食品、旅游鞋、合成氨、中成药、日用陶瓷、建筑陶瓷、摩托车、新型建筑材料、针复制品、棉纱、塑料制品、精细化工等产品，均是畅销国内外的名优产品。自1996年以来，有435种产品获国家银质奖和部、省优质奖，省以上优秀新产品100多个。
2002年全市利税过千万的企业有105家。在山东省重点考核的14项工业经济技术指标中，临沂市有11项好于全省平均水平，其中有6项名列前5名。

Industrial Base

　　Linyi has formed a comprehensive industrial structure backed by light industry and textile, food, building materials, machinery, and chemical industries. There are 2,400 enterprises of and above township level, with more than 3,000 kinds of products, among which engineering machinery, plant protection machinery, cement,food, tennis shoes synthetic ammonica, Chinese medicine, daily-use ceramics, building ceramics, motorcycles, new-developed building materials, cotton yarn, plaster poducts and fine chemical industry pruducts are all famous and excellent and sold well both at home and abroad. Since 1996, there have been 435kinds of products winning national silver medals and excellent rewards of ministries and province. Over 100 new products gain excellent rewards of province. In 1995, there were 65 enterprises with benefits and taxes over 10 million yuan.
Among the 14 industrial economic and technological indexes checked by the province, 11 of Linyi are better than the average level of the whole province, 6 are rank among the five.
